We’re still buzzing from an unforgettable evening in Queenstown – our very first Movers and Shakers event in Central Otago.
Together, we created something truly special: a room filled with aroha, connection, and shared purpose, united by a commitment to finding a cure for Parkinson’s.
Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our guests and supporters, the evening raised an incredible $185,000+ (net) through ticket sales, live auctions, and donations. These funds will directly support our growing research team – The Cure Collective at the Centre for Brain Research – helping accelerate work toward treatments that can stop Parkinson’s in its tracks, and one day, prevent it entirely.
We were also honoured to receive a transformational $150,000 donation from The Greenlea Foundation Trust, shared with the room by Managing Director Tony Egan ONZM. Combined with the event proceeds, this contribution brings vital momentum to the fight.
Events like this are only possible thanks to the incredible generosity of our partners, sponsors, and supporters.
A special thank you to Andrew & Sarah Cox and Vicki Onions of Imperium Group, owners of the iconic Eichardt’s Private Hotel, for hosting us in the stunning Grille and providing a truly world-class setting, exceptional hospitality, and generous auction contributions.
We are also incredibly grateful to Quartz Reef, Mora, and Kinross, whose outstanding Central Otago wines flowed throughout the evening, and to JMB Aircraft, represented by Henry Savill, whose support ensured our MC arrived seamlessly – adding a unique and memorable touch to the night.
Our sincere thanks also go to our live auction donors, whose generosity and creativity brought energy and excitement to the room while driving significant fundraising impact: Peregrine Wines, Ed Cruikshank of Firebrand, Aosta Arrowtown, Olivers Lodge & Stables, The Lord Clyde, Pete Gawron, Greenlea Butcher, Eichardt’s, Headwaters Eco Lodge, Fox Family, Mark Greatbatch, The Gold Shop Arrowtown, JMB Aircraft, and the team at the Centre for Brain Research.
A special mention must also go to Michael Eden from The Rock Shop Queenstown, who generously donated a Taylor GS Mini-L acoustic guitar, signed on the night – a truly unique auction item that captured the room and helped drive incredible support for the cause.
A highlight of the evening was hearing from Dave Dobbyn, who shared his personal experience of living with Parkinson’s with honesty, resilience, and grace. His story was a powerful reminder of why this work matters, making the mission deeply personal for everyone in the room.
He then treated guests to an intimate acoustic performance, culminating in a moving rendition of Welcome Home – a moment that brought the entire room together in a shared sense of hope and connection.
We also extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped bring the evening to life – including our MC Jesse Mulligan, auctioneer Brian King, panel contributors, and the many hands behind the scenes who made the night run seamlessly.
And finally, to David and Sarah Kidd – your vision, passion, and commitment made this event a reality and helped create something truly meaningful for the Central Otago community.
This was more than just a successful evening – it was the beginning of something.
Together, we are building real momentum toward a future without Parkinson’s.
