We’re proud to present a special fundraising screening series that brings together deeply personal storytelling and one of New Zealand’s most iconic achievements – all in support of Parkinson’s research.
Across this powerful evening, audiences will experience a cut-down version of One in 37, sharing the real stories of Kiwis living with Parkinson’s, alongside Driven to Find a Cure, showcasing world-class New Zealand research, before the feature film Beyond The Edge – the extraordinary story of Sir Edmund Hillary and the ascent of Everest.
As well as the screenings, guests will hear directly from Daniel McGowan, CEO of Cure Parkinson’s NZ, alongside special guests including Professor Maurice Curtis and Matthew Metcalfe, Director of Beyond The Edge, who will share his experience bringing Sir Edmund Hillary’s story to life.
From the belief that no dream is too big – captured in the conquest of Everest – to the pursuit of a cure for Parkinson’s in the lab, this conversation reflects the same spirit of perseverance, ambition, and determination to achieve what once seemed impossible, alongside insights into the progress already being made and what it will take to find a cure.
This is more than a film night. It’s a chance to connect with a mission that matters.
1 in 37 Kiwis will be diagnosed with Parkinson’s – and proceeds from this event go directly toward research at the Centre for Brain Research, helping accelerate progress toward treatments that can slow, stop, and ultimately cure the disease.
The roadshow travels across the country, with events planned for Matakana, Ponsonby, Tauranga, Hamilton, Wellington, Queenstown, Wānaka and Christchurch – each offering an intimate, curated evening featuring drinks and nibbles on arrival, screenings, live speakers, Q&A sessions and fundraising moments.
Tickets are $120 and include your screenings, a complimentary drink on arrival, ice cream or popcorn, entry into a raffle, and a contribution toward groundbreaking Parkinson’s research.
We invite you to express your interest in attending this exclusive event or ask any questions you may have by emailing lizzie@cureparkinsonsnz.org.nz.
